What Do I Do When Confidence and Self-Trust Hits in the Middle of a Launch?
What do I do when confidence and self-trust hits in the middle of something important?
The most effective response is usually not what feels most urgent.
When confidence and self-trust hits mid-stream, the instinct is often to either force through or abandon. Both can make things harder.
A more effective response:
- Pause. Not to avoid — to regulate. Three slow breaths.
- Name what’s happening. “My nervous system is activated right now.”
- Ask for what’s needed. Not “how do I push through” but “what would make this feel even slightly safer?”
- Take the smallest available step. Not the whole thing. One tiny movement in the right direction.
- Acknowledge yourself for it. Genuinely.
