A spiritual coach helps you connect with your purpose, your values and your inner life. Then they help you act from that place. For an entrepreneur, a good spiritual coach can bring calm, clear thinking and a real sense of why the work matters. But spiritual coaching can’t build a business on its own. A business also needs an offer, a price and money systems. The best support holds both.
This page explains what a spiritual coach does, and what one can and can’t do for a business owner. It shows what to look for in one. And it shows how the Abundance GPS approach pairs the inner work with real structure.
What is a spiritual coach?
A spiritual coach is a guide for the inner side of life. The focus is meaning, purpose, presence and connection to something larger than yourself. Some spiritual coaches come from a faith tradition. Many don’t. A good one works with your beliefs, not theirs.
A spiritual life coach is close to a life coach, with one difference. A life coach mostly asks, “What do you want, and how will you get it?” A spiritual life coach also asks, “Who are you, and what is this for?”
A spiritual coach is not a therapist. Therapists are trained to work safely with deep pain and with mental health problems. If you carry old trauma, or you feel depressed or anxious, see a qualified therapist or your GP first. A spiritual coach can sit beside that support. It should never replace it.
There is no single training or licence that every spiritual coach holds. So it pays to look closely before you choose one.
What a spiritual coach can do for an entrepreneur
Running a business is lonely, loud and full of decisions. Spiritual coaching can help with the part of that no spreadsheet touches.
- Purpose. Getting clear on why you do this work, so it can carry you through the hard weeks.
- Noticing. Seeing what is going on inside you before it runs your day.
- Values. Deciding what you will and won’t do for money, before a client tests it.
- Calm decisions. Making big calls from a settled place instead of from panic.
- Permission to want. Many spiritual entrepreneurs feel that wanting money is wrong. A good coach helps you look at that belief honestly.
This is the ground we call Spirit & Flow. It matters. A business with no purpose under it tends to feel empty, even when it works.
What spiritual coaching can’t do on its own
Here is the honest part. Spiritual coaching, on its own, rarely builds a business. You can feel deeply aligned and still have no clear offer, no price you can say without flinching, and no plan for your next three clients.
David Cameron Gikandi wrote about this in his book A Happy Pocket Full of Money, an international bestseller. He warns against acting all day long with little quiet thinking. Then he warns against the other side too: “Nor should you spend all your time on spiritual nutrition and ignore acting and everything else.” Both halves matter.
For years, people wrote to David asking why they were still stuck. On his About page, he gives the answer he found: “The answer was that the principles were never the problem.” The problem was bringing the parts together. In his words, they “refuse to live in the same room with each other unless someone deliberately builds the room.”
So a spiritual coach is a good part of the answer. For an entrepreneur, it is rarely the whole answer.
Why spiritual entrepreneurs get stuck between the two
Many spiritual entrepreneurs feel pulled two ways. One side says money is not spiritual. The other side says the bills still need paying. We wrote a whole guide to the spirituality-money tension, and a shorter piece on five money blocks specific to spiritual entrepreneurs.
David has lived this. He was the Creative Consultant on The Secret. And a few years before 2022, he faced stacks of bills, late payments and eviction notices. He had a vision board on his office wall. In his words: “But it wasn’t as powerful as the vision that my subconscious had to maintain its old self.”
Then he saw something that sits at the heart of what we teach: “I didn’t need to learn how to manifest better. I need to learn how to become aligned, how to get out of my own way.”
That is the belief under all of our work. Because manifesting is as natural as breathing. The work is releasing the brakes, rising above the conditioning, and building real structure and flow around abundance.
He also got help. In his forties he worked with a psychologist, and in his words, “It made a real difference.” Spiritual work, therapy and business skill do different jobs. One can’t stand in for another.
What to look for in a spiritual coach
Looking for a spiritual coach for your life or your business? These questions will help you choose well.
- Are they clear about what they do and don’t do? A good coach will tell you plainly when something is a job for a therapist, a doctor or an accountant.
- Do they respect your beliefs? You should never feel pushed toward their faith, their practices or their worldview.
- Do they avoid big promises? Be careful with anyone who promises you money, healing, or that you can “manifest anything”. Nobody can honestly promise those.
- Do they ask about your real business? A good spiritual coach for entrepreneurs is curious about your offer, your clients and your money. Not just your feelings.
- Do you leave with a next step? Insight is lovely. Insight plus one action is better.
- Do you feel safe? You should feel more like yourself after a session, not smaller.
How the Abundance GPS approach pairs inner work with structure
Our work is built around the Three Pillars, because most real problems live in all three at once.
- Economic Machine: the practical side of making money. Your offer, your prices, your sales.
- Mind & Heart: the inner side. Your beliefs, your sense of who you are, your old patterns. This is where brakes are released.
- Spirit & Flow: the source side. Your purpose, your daily practice, your sense of what it is all for.
Take a common problem: “I can’t charge what I’m worth.” It is a pricing question, a worthiness question and a purpose question all at once. Spiritual coaching alone works on the third. A business course alone works on the first. Working on all three together is what finally makes it move.
To hold the pillars together over time, David built GPS+I, a four-week cycle of Goal, Problem, Solutions and Integration. Each month you set a goal, find the brakes in the way, apply techniques, and make the change part of daily life. A technique here is how a brake gets released or how structure gets built. It is never a lesson in how to manifest.
We help conscious entrepreneurs with adverse childhood experiences get out of their own way and release their brakes — so they can multiply their income and magnify their impact. If that is you, our page on conscious entrepreneurs explains who we serve and why.
Questions people ask
What does a spiritual coach do?
A spiritual coach helps you get clear on your purpose and values. They help you notice what is going on inside you, and act from there. The aim is a life that feels true to who you are. For an entrepreneur, that includes the business.
What is the difference between a spiritual coach and a life coach?
A life coach focuses mostly on goals and action. A spiritual life coach also works with meaning, purpose and your inner life. Many good coaches do some of both.
What is spiritual business coaching?
It is coaching that treats your business as an expression of who you are. Done well, it includes the practical side too: offers, prices, clients and money systems. Without those, it is spiritual coaching with a business theme.
Can a spiritual coach replace therapy?
No. If you are dealing with trauma, or you feel depressed or anxious, or it all feels like too much, please see a qualified therapist or your GP. Spiritual coaching can sit beside that care.
How do I become a spiritual coach?
Start the way any coaching business starts. Choose who you help and make one clear offer. Set a price you can say out loud. Then reach your first few clients through people who trust you. The brakes that stall your clients will show up for you too, so do your own work first.
