Two attribution rules to know. Both are designed to keep your referrals attributed to you — including the ones who don’t pay immediately.
The standard window.
When someone clicks your referral link, we drop a cookie in their browser. If they sign up within 14 days, they’re attributed to you. After 14 days, the cookie expires.
The quiet bonus.
If someone signs up to a free tier under your link, you get $0 for the free signup — but if they ever upgrade (even years later), you start receiving recurring commissions on their upgrade. Your free referrals stay yours forever.
Six things worth knowing.
Pulled straight from the in-community affiliate spec. Read these before you start referring.
- A.Group owners and admins can’t refer. This feature exists for members referring other members — not for the team running the community to use as a sales channel.
- B.Only new-member referrals count. Members who leave and rejoin via an affiliate link won’t generate commissions. The system de-dupes against past memberships.
- C.Negative balances can occur. If a referred member refunds or disputes a transaction, the commission claws back. Negative balances are real and you’ll see them in the dashboard.
- D.It’s fully automated — please don’t message support to manually add a referral. If someone joined without your link by mistake, we can’t retroactively attribute them. Be careful with your link sharing.
- E.You must be 18+ to withdraw. Standard payout-eligibility rule. Balance can accrue under 18, but you can’t withdraw until your birthday.
- F.14-day pending hold. When you earn a commission, it sits as “pending” for 14 days — so the referred member’s payment can clear refund windows. After 14 days the balance becomes available to withdraw.

The most-asked questions.
Do I need to apply?
No application. The moment you’re a paid member of the community ($27/month), the affiliate feature is active inside your Skool account. No waiting list, no approval queue.
How much can I realistically earn?
40% of $27 = $10.80/month per active referral. Three active referrals → ~$32/mo (your membership is now effectively free). Ten active referrals → ~$108/mo (a nice side income). A hundred active referrals → ~$1,080/mo. There’s no cap.
What if I’m not active in the community anymore?
You need to remain a paid member to receive commissions. If you cancel your membership, your affiliate dashboard goes inactive and your earnings stop. (Past balances already paid out are yours; future commissions won’t accrue.)
Can I promote with paid ads / SEO / email marketing?
Yes — but stay in the brand voice. No hype, no income claims, no “manifest your Lambo” energy. The audience reads through that immediately and bounces. Use the Affiliate Bot Bestie if you want help finding the voice for your own platform.
What happens when a referral cancels?
Your recurring commission for that referral stops. If they previously paid an amount within the 14-day pending window, that pending balance is reversed (refund protection). Already-paid-out balances aren’t clawed back.
Are there commissions on the Mastermind or mini-courses?
Skool’s native affiliate feature pays on the community subscription ($27/month). The Mastermind ($3,500/month) is by application and handled outside Skool — affiliate commissions on it are case-by-case at David’s discretion. Mini-courses purchased via WooCommerce currently have no affiliate program attached.
