And yet something still isn’t clicking. You catch yourself looping in the same worries by 10am. You know you should be present. You know the future doesn’t exist. You know your thoughts aren’t you. But knowing it and living it are two different countries — and most days you’re still in the wrong one.

It’s not you. It’s not a discipline problem. It’s not that you need to meditate harder or wake up earlier or buy another course on mindfulness. You’ve been taught presence as a practice — something you do for 20 minutes and then return to “real life.” Nobody told you it’s actually the operating system underneath everything else you’re trying to build.

Here’s what this second chapter on Being reframes: presence isn’t a wellness habit. It’s the place where wealth, work, and decisions actually happen. The mind is a tool — a beautiful one — but it was never meant to run you 24/7. Research suggests roughly 90% of our thoughts are repeats. Reruns of yesterday. Trailers for a future that isn’t here.
