Why Does Magnetic Marketing Energy-Based Feel More Intense When Things Are Going Well?
This is one of the most disorienting aspects of genuine progress in magnetic marketing work — and one of the least talked about. When things start going well, the energy-based challenges often feel more present rather than less. This can read as failure or backsliding, but it is usually the opposite.
Understanding why this happens makes it possible to work with it rather than away from it.
The Protection Is No Longer Working
For many practitioners, the specific difficulty with magnetic showing up — the holding back, the management, the careful curation of what gets expressed — has also been functioning as protection. If I don’t show up fully, I can’t be fully evaluated. If my presence in the market is modest, the gap between what I put out and how it’s received stays manageable.
When things start going well — when the showing up produces genuine recognition, when client attraction shifts, when the work reaches people who really respond — the protection loses its structural function. Something new is being required. The body notices, and its response is the specific kind of activation that gets labeled as difficulty.
Somatic practices for working with intensified activation are most important precisely at this juncture. The activation isn’t a signal that something is wrong. It’s a signal that the nervous system is being asked to hold a kind of success it hasn’t held before — and that the capacity for that is still developing.
The Stakes Feel Higher
When the work is small and quiet, the stakes feel correspondingly small. When it starts producing real results, the stakes feel real. A practitioner who was previously invisible has very little to lose. A practitioner who has begun to build a genuine market presence has something to protect — and the perception of having something to protect intensifies the protective responses.
This is not irrational. It is the appropriate response to a genuinely different situation. The identity work that makes sense of success-triggered intensity addresses the question underneath the intensification: who am I in relation to this? Am I someone who gets to be genuinely successful at this? Am I someone who can sustain what is starting to happen without undermining it?
These identity questions are real questions, and they often surface with particular urgency exactly when success starts arriving because that’s when they are genuinely on the table for the first time.
Expanded Visibility Produces Expanded Exposure
There is also a simple, structural dimension to this. More visibility means more people seeing the work. More people seeing the work means more possible responses — including responses that are less than affirming. The practitioner who posts to fifty followers has a different exposure than the practitioner who posts to five hundred. The larger audience includes more variation, more potential for misunderstanding, more possible criticism.
Signs this intensification is progress rather than regression include: the quality of the showing up itself is not degrading even if the experience of showing up feels more charged; genuine connection with the right audience is increasing even if the activation is present; the ability to return to showing up after a difficult response is faster than it used to be.
What to Do With the Intensity
The worst response to success-triggered intensity is to reduce the showing up in order to reduce the activation. That response restores comfort at the cost of the very development that produced the success.
The complete framework for understanding magnetic presence frames this intensity as the edge of development — the place where what is possible is slightly larger than what feels fully comfortable. That edge is where practice is most productive. The task is not to eliminate the activation but to develop the capacity to show up fully while it is present.
Distinguishing productive intensity from genuine warning signals matters here. Productive intensity: activation, heightened sensation, increased emotional responsiveness around showing up. Genuine warning: clarity that a particular piece of showing up is genuinely not appropriate for this moment or this audience. The two feel different, and developing the ability to tell them apart is part of the ongoing practice.
The intensification when things are going well is not a problem. It is what practice looks like when it is working at the level that actually matters.
