The CLARITI Method Applied to The Person You Need to Become

Most transformation methods give you either a mindset framework or a skills framework. CLARITI gives you both — plus the connective tissue that most approaches miss.

Here’s a practical walk-through of CLARITI specifically applied to the work of becoming the person your next level requires.

The Seven Steps, Applied

C — Construct Identity

Begin with a clear, specific description of the identity you’re building. Not behavioral goals — the identity beneath the behavior.

Write: “The person I need to become is someone who…” and then describe their inner experience, not their actions. What do they believe about themselves? What feels natural to them that currently feels uncomfortable to you?

This construction phase is the anchor for everything that follows.

L — Liberate Beliefs

List the beliefs that are maintaining your current identity — the ones that make the new identity feel unsafe, arrogant, risky, or untrue.

For each belief, ask: where did this come from? What was it protecting? Is the original threat still present in the same way?

Liberation doesn’t mean deletion. It means understanding the belief so thoroughly that it loses its automatic authority.

A — Acquire Skills

The new identity likely has capabilities you’re still developing. Name them concretely.

For a healer who needs to become someone who charges without apology: the skill might be staying regulated while stating a rate and holding the silence that follows. For a coach who needs to become someone who asks directly: the skill might be making a clear, unhedged request without the pre-emptive apology.

These are learnable. Name them. Practice them.

R — Reinforce Traits

Traits of the new identity get reinforced through real-world action. Each time you act from the new identity — even imperfectly — you add a data point to its reality.

This week: choose one trait of the new identity and find one specific way to express it in the real world. Keep it small enough to be real. Let it be genuine, not performed.

I — Identify Roadblocks

What are the situations, people, or internal states that most reliably trigger the old identity?

Get specific. “When X happens, I tend to Y.” Name the pattern. Map the trigger. Understanding the roadblock is the prerequisite for being able to choose something different when you encounter it.

T — Transformational Work

This is the phase where the deeper work happens — whatever tools are most alive for you. Somatic practice. Inner child dialogue. Nervous system regulation. Belief inquiry. Grief work around the identities you’re releasing.

T is not one specific technique. It’s the invitation to go as deep as the work requires in this cycle. For some people in some months, it’s a journaling practice. For others, it’s working with a somatic practitioner. For others, it’s a community container that provides consistent mirrors.

I — Integration

The final phase, and the most frequently skipped.

Integration means allowing consolidation. Reducing the active pushing. Reflecting rather than adding. Noticing what has genuinely shifted versus what is still in process.

Integration is where nervous system rewiring actually happens — in the spaces between effort.

CLARITI as a Monthly or Quarterly Cycle

Like GPS+I, CLARITI works best as a repeating cycle. Each pass deepens the previous one. What surfaced in the T phase of one cycle becomes the L material for the next.

The person you need to become is not a fixed destination. As you grow into one level of identity, the next level becomes visible. CLARITI gives you a reliable structure for navigating that continuous evolution.

The Key Insight

The reason CLARITI works where simpler approaches sometimes don’t is that it doesn’t skip steps. Belief Liberation without Identity Construction leaves you with no clear direction. Skills Acquisition without Belief Liberation leaves you pushing against internal resistance. Integration without Transformational Work produces shallow consolidation.

When all seven phases are engaged in sequence, the identity shift happens at multiple levels simultaneously — and tends to be more stable, more genuine, and more durable.
