The Inner Dimension

There is also an inner question at this level that the functional stage didn’t require: the willingness to let both dimensions be genuinely excellent rather than merely working. There is often an unconscious belief that one dimension must be sacrificed for the other to flourish — that the mother who builds something great must be doing so at the expense of her mothering, or that the mother who is genuinely present must be doing so at the expense of her business.

The advanced work is examining and releasing that belief — and the right support structure is one that can hold you in the possibility of genuine excellence in both, simultaneously, rather than the managed adequacy of each.
