A Visualisation Sequence for Content and Visibility

Visualisation works with content and visibility patterns at the level of the nervous system’s predictions — using imagination to begin updating what the body expects from being seen, before the actual experiences of visibility accumulate.

This is a supplement to practice, not a replacement for it. But it can make the practice more accessible by reducing the anticipatory activation that often prevents beginning.

The Sequence: Six Steps

Step 1: Ground First (1-2 minutes)

Before beginning any visualisation around a charged topic, establish a baseline of groundedness. Feel your feet on the floor. Notice three things you can see, two you can hear, one you can feel (temperature, texture). Allow the body to settle.

You’re not trying to reach a particular state. You’re establishing enough present-moment awareness that the visualisation doesn’t carry you into pure anxiety.

Step 2: Visualise the Act of Creating (2-3 minutes)

Imagine yourself creating — writing, recording, drafting — a piece of content that’s more specifically you than what you usually share. More direct. More genuine. Something that expresses what you actually think about something in your domain.

Notice the body’s response to this image. Where is the tension? Where is the contraction? Let it be there without trying to change it.

Step 3: Visualise Posting or Publishing (2-3 minutes)

Now imagine hitting send, clicking publish, posting the piece. Feel the moment of it being out there — visible, findable, no longer private.

Again: notice the body’s response. The specific sensations. The specific thoughts. Let them be present.

Step 4: Visualise the Response (2-3 minutes)

Imagine the actual range of responses. Some people engaging positively. Some not engaging at all. Maybe one critical response — not a catastrophe, just someone who disagrees. You survive it. The work is still out there.

Then: someone finds your work who genuinely needed it. They message you. The work reached them because it was there to be found.

Spend more time in this part of the sequence than the fear-response part.

Step 5: Return to the Body (1 minute)

Return to present-moment awareness. Feet on the floor. Breath. What’s the body’s state now compared to the beginning of the sequence?

Step 6: Take One Small Action

Do something small and real in the direction of visibility — open a draft, write one sentence, record a voice note. Bridge the visualisation into the actual.
