What Do I Do When Confidence and Self-Trust Hits in the Middle of a Launch?

What do I do when confidence and self-trust hits in the middle of something important?

The most effective response is usually not what feels most urgent.

When confidence and self-trust hits mid-stream, the instinct is often to either force through or abandon. Both can make things harder.

A more effective response:

  1. Pause. Not to avoid — to regulate. Three slow breaths.
  2. Name what’s happening. “My nervous system is activated right now.”
  3. Ask for what’s needed. Not “how do I push through” but “what would make this feel even slightly safer?”
  4. Take the smallest available step. Not the whole thing. One tiny movement in the right direction.
  5. Acknowledge yourself for it. Genuinely.
