Why I Can’t Seem to Move Forward With Magnetic Marketing Energy-Based
Magnetic marketing is a relational practice. The showing up isn’t performed into a void — it’s produced in the context of a real or imagined audience. The content goes to actual people. The visibility is a visibility to others. This relational dimension of the practice is often where the most fundamental blocks live, and it’s also the one least addressed in the frameworks that treat showing up primarily as an internal practice.
When forward motion with magnetic marketing is blocked, and the inner work — the state regulation, the belief inquiry, the identity work — hasn’t fully moved the block, the relational layer is often where the remaining work lives.
The Relational Dimension of the Showing-Up Block
The relational dimension of the showing-up block operates through the imagined audience. Before content is created or shared, the practitioner has already constructed — implicitly, automatically — a sense of who will receive it and what that receiving will be like. This imagined audience shapes the creating as much as any internal state does.
For practitioners whose relational history includes significant experiences of being misunderstood when visible, judged when claiming, hurt when expressing, or abandoned when showing up fully — the imagined audience carries that history. The act of creating content for others to see activates the neural patterns associated with those previous relational experiences. The body prepares for the anticipated relational outcome, not the hoped-for one.
This is why some practitioners can create content in private — in a journal, in a document, with no intention of sharing — and find it genuinely expressive and powerful. The same person, the moment they intend to share the content, finds it shifting — becoming more guarded, less genuine, more managed. The difference isn’t the content or the state. It’s the relational frame.
The Body’s Response to Imagined Audience
The body’s response to imagined audience is the place where the relational block becomes most legible. When the practitioner adds the relational frame — the awareness that others will receive what is being created — the body generates a specific somatic response. This response is different from the response to private expression.
Noticing the difference in the body between creating for private use and creating for genuine sharing is information about the relational block. Where does the body contract? What quality does the activation have? What specifically is anticipated from the audience that generates the somatic response?
These questions don’t need to produce intellectually complete answers. They need to produce genuine contact with what the body is holding about the relational experience of being seen. That contact is what makes the relational material workable.
The Relational Beliefs That Block Forward Motion
The relational beliefs that block forward motion in the context of magnetic marketing are beliefs about what the audience will do with the practitioner’s expression. They’re rarely explicit — they operate as anticipations rather than stated beliefs.
The anticipation of being misunderstood: that the genuine expression will be received as something other than what was intended, in a way that confirms the practitioner’s fear that they can’t be accurately known.
The anticipation of judgment: that the claiming of expertise or authority will be met with the audience’s skepticism or correction — a relational experience that confirms the unworthiness of the claim.
The anticipation of indifference: that the showing up won’t be received at all — that the expression will go into a void, which is its own relational experience, the absence of being witnessed.
Each of these anticipations shapes what gets created and whether it gets shared.
Building the Identity That Can Be in Relation
Building the identity that can be in relation means developing a self-concept that can tolerate the full range of relational responses to visibility — the positive reception and the critical reception, the warm engagement and the indifferent scroll, the being seen accurately and the being misunderstood. The practitioner whose identity can hold all of these as survivable, rather than as threats to be protected against, can show up in genuine relation to their audience.
This is built through accumulated relational experience, not through internal work alone. Each time the practitioner is genuinely seen by even one person — received accurately, met in what they expressed — provides evidence that genuine relational reception is possible. This evidence accumulates into the somatic knowing that the relational risk is manageable.
The full approach for the relational dimension of blocking addresses the relational layer directly, alongside the individual state and identity work — because the magnetic marketing practice happens in relation, and the block that lives in the relational dimension needs relational healing, not just individual work.
