The CLARITI Method Applied to Mentors, Peers and Support
For conscious entrepreneurs who have done significant identity work, the block around mentors, peers, and support is rarely a simple belief. It is a constellation of identity structures, core convictions, and behavioral patterns that have been partially examined but not fully resolved.
The CLARITI method — Construct Identity, Liberate Beliefs, Acquire Skills, Reinforce Traits, Identify Roadblocks, Transformational Work, Integration — is designed for precisely this kind of layered challenge. It works at the identity and belief layer, where the real leverage lives in the support domain.
The CLARITI method applied to mentors, peers, and support takes the framework through the specific terrain of conscious entrepreneurship: the sophisticated self-reliance, the discernment that can become a form of isolation, and the identity that has been built around self-generated insight and capability.
Construct Identity: The Honest Current State
In the conscious entrepreneur context, the identity around support tends to be more nuanced than “I don’t need help.” It tends to be something like: “I am someone who selects support very carefully and has high standards for what is actually useful.”
This sounds like discernment. It often also functions as a sophisticated version of the same protection that simpler self-reliance identities maintain: a way of remaining in the position of evaluator rather than receiver.
Write the honest current identity in this domain. Include both what is genuinely true about your support relationship — the real discernment, the real standards — and the ways in which the identity may be functioning as protection.
Liberate Beliefs: The Inquiry Layer
Belief liberation in the support domain targets the beliefs that sustain the identity. For conscious entrepreneurs, these tend to be:
“The people who have what I need have already been found and are not accessible to me at this stage.”
“I’ve outgrown the kind of peer relationships that are widely available in my network.”
“Investing significant time in support structures at this stage takes away from the primary work.”
Apply inquiry to each belief: Is it absolutely true? Can you find counterexamples from your own experience or from people whose capability you genuinely respect? What does the belief cost you? Who would you be in this domain if this belief weren’t organizing your decisions?
Acquire Skills: The Real Competencies
Building adequate mentors, peers, and support requires skills that are not taught in most professional development contexts. The relevant competencies include: how to initiate a mentorship conversation that positions it correctly from the start, how to build peer relationships in a field where many people are peers by title but not by genuine engagement, and how to receive without deflecting — to let support actually land rather than processing it and filing it.
Identify the one skill in this set that is most lacking for you. That is the acquisition target this cycle.
Reinforce Traits: The Receiving Traits
The traits that support genuine receiving in the support domain include: genuine curiosity (the willingness not to already know), trust (the capacity to believe that others have genuine perspective on your situation), and vulnerability (the willingness to be seen in the places that still have edges).
Reinforcing receiving traits in the conscious entrepreneur context means deliberately practicing these traits in actual support interactions this month — not aspiring to them, practicing them.
Identify Roadblocks and Transformational Work
Name the specific roadblock most active in your current support pattern. Apply the CLARITI framework’s transformational intervention: for an identity block, write and live the revised identity. For a belief block, apply inquiry and install the replacement. For a skill block, design and execute the deliberate practice.
Integration
After taking action through the CLARITI cycle, integrate what happened. What shifted? What remains? What does the next iteration of the cycle need to target?
You are not behind. The CLARITI method applied to mentors, peers, and support is identity work at the layer where conscious entrepreneurs’ support blocks actually live. The framework is the structure for doing that work systematically.
