7 Transformative Facts About Self-Talk

Self-talk has a tremendous impact on an individual’s thinking. It determines life patterns and foretells the future. Learning how to minimize it leads to life mastery, greatness, and empowerment. Moreover, patience and visualizations are indispensable tools to go along with it.

7 Truths About Self-Talk That’ll Change Your Life

Here are 7 powerful truths about self-talk:

#1 Self-talk determines your life patterns

Self-talk determines your life patterns

As a man thinketh, so is he.

Your mind is mighty.

It is capable of so many things, even more than you’re aware you can do.

There is one pattern, in particular, that has a massive effect on your thinking.

This is your self-talk pattern.

There are essential things you need to realize:

  • Outer situations reflect your inner state.
  • There’s a much larger pattern working in your life.
  • Your world arises from your thoughts and emotions.

Once you’ve understood these, you’ll start to recognize your current situations whether it’s:

  • Health
  • Financial
  • Relationship

You’ll see why they are the way they are, and more importantly, how to change them without fail.

This begins with shifting to your self-talk patterns.

#2 Internal dialogues dictate your future

Internal dialogues dictate your future

We all talk to ourselves in our minds.

We hold this mental conversation with ourselves that never stops.

In fact, you maintain your world through your self-talk.

Remember this:

What you think determines your next moments.

The problem with self-talk is that it is mostly negative.

It’s limited to your ideas of what should be.

It is also 90% repetitive.

This is what keeps your world as it is.

When you finally stop this, your world takes on a renewed magnificence.

It goes back to the way it naturally is, which is optimistic.

#3 Masters know how to switch off self-talk

Masters know how to switch off self-talk

There are three kinds of people.

There are those that are not aware that they are having a mental conversation with themselves in their head all the time.

They simply don’t know.

If you ask them what they’re thinking about, they can’t even remember.

They do not have a recollection of what they were thinking about just a couple of seconds ago.

Then, there are those who know they have mental self-talk.

However, they are unable to control its direction and unable to turn it off.

Finally, there is a small fraction of the population that can turn it off completely. These are the masters.

They have managed this feat simply by choosing to practice the art of mindfulness, shadow work, and so on.

They have chosen to quiet the mind and become aware.

Their mind is where the body is.

It’s not running off in a permanent dreamland that is all about tomorrow and yesterday.

The only way the mind can be where the body is is by being quiet.

Be still and know.

One needs to be simply observant without:

  • Thoughts
  • Comments
  • Judgments

As long as you keep your self-talk on, you will be bound to repeat the same:

  • Path
  • Errors
  • Choices

There is nothing new.

The reason is that you keep repeating the same self-talk.

Yet… it is not possible to command your self-talk to stop. Rather, it stops when you practice mindfulness, shadow work, and so on.

#4 Less self-talk empowers your life

Less self-talk empowers your life

Imagine that life is a river.

It is always:

  • Clear
  • Clean
  • Fresh
  • Flowing
  • Powerful
  • Progressive

Now, imagine that your self-talk is a garbage truck.

And that, it is parked by the side of that river.

As long as you keep dumping trash into the river, it will be covered in flowing dirt,

You do not realize it but you’re dumping it in there all day long.

The moment you stop, it will take just a few moments for the river to clear and go back to its natural reality.

People think that their thinking is what helps them.

Thinking is like any other tool.

The right amount of it at the appropriate time is useful.

However, too much of it is destructive.

You probably need to think about 10% of the time only, no more.

#5 The spirit will guide you to the right thought

The spirit will guide you to the right thought

Audit your thoughts today.

See what you are thinking about.

Set an alarm on your watch to go off every 10 minutes.

When it goes off, tell yourself, “Wake up!”

Ask yourself about:

  • Any negativity in thoughts
  • What you were thinking of
  • Whether it had any scenarios of things going wrong

You will be shocked to see how much crap is probably going on in your head.

Become aware of your self-talk and stop it.

Look around.

See the world as it is, without commentary and judgment.

Don’t think.

Wait and be patient.

At the right time, your spirit will give you the appropriate thought.

#6 Excessive self-talk comes from the ego

Excessive self-talk comes from the ego

The other mental noise is not real thought.

It is the ego camouflaging its fears by creating all sorts of noise and calling it “thinking.”

Real thought is decisive and lovingly without fear.

It is a statement of pure knowing.

When you stop your self-talk, you create a vacuum.

Have intent on what you wish your life to be.

Hold the essence of that intent always, but don’t obsess mentally about it.

Simply know that what you intend will be so.

Leave it at that.

#7 Add visualization to your self-talk

Add visualization to your self-talk

You can visualize it every now and then.

In fact, you should do that perhaps twice or thrice a day.

Visualization is creative and highly powerful.

But that’s it; no need to obsess.

Create a vacuum and let nature fill it.

Life is a magnificent force.

When you stop filling your cup with littleness that comes from too much mental noise, you’ll fill it with greatness.

Life cannot show you what it truly is if you keep telling it how it should be.

When you drop your self-talk, the most amazing accomplishments begin to happen.

Self-talk is based on littleness.

It is what replenishes and maintains a world of littleness, instead of grandeur.
