Limiting beliefs can be changed if an individual seeks his or her higher guidance, rediscovers the shadow, ignores negative thoughts, undergoes regression therapy, acts as if their desires have been manifested, talks to their inner critic, forgives, and/or makes affirmations.
8 Best Ways To Overcome Your Limiting Beliefs
There are many methods available to clear your limiting beliefs.

Here we go:
#1 Ask your higher guidance
The amount of help available to us from the universe is amazing!
You have so much support including:
- Your higher self
Remember, you are not a body.
You are a spirit with a body that you temporarily use on earth and drop when you leave this plane.
You do have friends without physical forms, just like you were before.
And once again shall be without a body – and have done so many times over eternity.
So, to help you resolve any limiting beliefs you have, simply ask whoever you feel comfortable with:
- Creative Source
- Your higher self
- Guardian angels
They are always ready to help, but cannot interfere with your choices.
They must get your permission first.
And so, if you state the following, support will never be denied to you:
- You’re ready
- You’re willing
- You’re asking for help
You’ll find events arranged that will come forth to help you permanently resolve your limits.
How do you ask for help?
It is very simple.
Simply call on whomever you wish to ask for help (e.g. the angels) and ask.
The thought will be received.

#2 Rediscover your shadow sides

Basically, what it takes is for you to embrace the sides that you have labeled as “bad” and “to be avoided.”
Once you do this, you will notice that:
- Lost Effect: Because you’re no longer denying and pushing them away, you lose your fixation on them. Therefore, you aren’t creating negative outcomes based on them anymore.
- Misunderstood Sides: You also realize that your shadow sides are not really scary at all.
- Hidden Gift: They actually do hold a gift for you that you may not have realized (e.g. they made you stronger or more ambitious or something like that).
#3 Focus on your desires instead
One way of getting out of limiting beliefs is simply to pay them no attention when they come up.
Here’s an example:
If you have a belief that says, “I will probably be rejected when I approach a new person,” just ignore that thought when it comes up.
Simply watch it rise and fall back into your mind.
It will disappear within a few seconds.
Avoid the urge to do the following to your thoughts:
Just let it fall off.
After that, go ahead and put your attention on what you desire.
Go over, say hello, and have a normal conversation.
Here’s why this method is so effective:
Because you did not energize that belief, you will find that your conversation will go quite smoothly.
Eventually, that thought will not even arise anymore.
You will have acquired a new belief that says, “It is easy for me to strike up a conversation with a new person.”
#4 Try regression therapy
This one is great for those with beliefs that they hold on to very strongly.
The idea here is to go back to the very first time they felt the way they did and revisit that experience.
They can then look at it in detail and see at which point they made the erroneous conclusion that resulted in the limiting belief.
This regression can be done in the normal state of consciousness.
Hypnosis is another option an individual can take.
In either case, you can do it through the following:
- On your own (with a regression CD or tape)
Sometimes, our limiting beliefs were formed in a past life and hypnotherapy may be the way to go.
#5 Act, speak, & think ‘as if’
Whatever it is you desire, act, speak, and think as if you have already received it.
Keep doing this and eventually, your mind will become reprogrammed.
Any limiting beliefs you had will be erased.
They will do so because you are already behaving as if you have accomplished the manifestation of your desire.
Let me explain why this is so:
A limiting belief only works if you have not yet received, in effect saying, “You can’t because…”
Acting “as if” will short-circuit that part of this negative habit.
And since all habits have components, even if you take away just one, the entire belief falls away.
#6 Converse with your inner critic
The way your limiting beliefs communicate with you is somewhat like a third-party inner critic.
They talk to you like this voice that says, “No way! You will not be able to do that.”
In summary, this dialog works by you imagining your inner critic is a subpersonality.
You close your eyes and see it complete with a body and all.
And then, you have a conversation asking it what it’s up to and why it does things, etc.
The amazing thing is that you will get answers.
Have a friendly conversation with it and find out the root cause of its actions.
Basically, you are doing so to discover two things:
- When did you first feel this way?
- What is it you’re so afraid of that makes you act this way
You can then reevaluate that and see where the error in thought started.

The bottom line to all inner critics is that they started when you were first embarrassed or fearful of something.
Now, they criticize you to prevent you from putting yourself in a similar position.

Simply letting go of what you once held as guilty will release you in ways you would never have thought of.
No therapy needed, no complicated stuff – it just works its own magic!
#8 Create affirmations
Affirmations are another way of getting over limiting beliefs.
All of you have to do is this:
Write down a positive statement that is the opposite of your limiting belief.
Then, repeat that to yourself whenever you catch yourself thinking that negative thought.
Over time, you will successfully reprogram your subconscious.
