7 Surprising Truths About Fear
The truth is that fear is an illusion, exaggerated assumption, and projection of the past. It can be transformed through understanding, serve as a bridge for integration, overcome through action, and be an ally when utilized wisely.
Astonishing Facts Revealing The Reality Of Fear
Your fears are not as powerful as you think. Here are 7 truths that will forever change the way you think about them.
#1 Your fears aren’t real
Let’s define what fear really is.
First of all, it is the absence of love and truth.
When you are in a state of fear, you are looking for potential dangers.
In contrast, when love is present, there’s safety and trust.
The Truth of the universe is that everything works out in your favor.
Therefore, the presence of fear automatically indicates the lack of love and truth.
Second, fear is rooted in illusion.
It is about an imagined outcome. Therefore, we can say that it is:
- False
- Evidence
- Appearing
- Real
It also stems from a lack of understanding.
It can only point to what is not yet known about life.
Lastly, fear comes from the concept of separation.
It is the emotion of being disconnected from the greater reality.
Yet, this does not exist, except as an error of perception.
In actuality, Oneness is all there is.
#2 You can transform it through understanding
The most meaningful way to deal with your fear is to understand it.
Avoid doing the following:
- Destroying it
- Getting rid of it
- Running away from it
None of these will take it away.
If you do the ones mentioned above, you are simply denying your own power and responsibility.
You’re also ensuring that you remain stuck.
It is only through analyzing fear that you will transform it.
You’ll expose it for the cloud of illusion it really is and dispel it as if it were a simple veil of smoke.
#3 You integrate a part of yourself when you face it
As I stated earlier, on the other side of fear is your own denied power.
It’s like a wall that separates you from another part of yourself.
And since you don’t have the awareness of this other side, you’re unable to do anything about it.
Here’s what you need to do to solve this:
- Face it
- Talk to it
- Examine it
- Feel it fully
Ask yourself, “How does that wall of fear feel, taste, smell, and so on?”
What is it all about?
What is it threatening to do?
Then, switch over to the other side of the fear.
Look at the threat itself.
Hold a conversation with it as well.
Finally, talk to yourself.
Keep this conversation going between you, the wall of fear, and what lies beyond the wall.
This internal dialog will reveal so much to you.
Note: Your goal is to reach an agreement between the three parts.
#4 Fear is your friend
Did you know that fear can be your friend?
Allow me to explain.
As you already learned:
- Fear is the opposite (absence) of love
- It is the literal experience of being disconnected from who you really are
Therefore, it can teach you a lot about your beliefs.
The first step to using fear as your ally is to admit that you are terrified.
Simply say, “Yes, I am feeling afraid.”
This will put you into the truth of the situation.
At the same time making it clear to you that you are not your fear.
You only have a feeling of fear.
Note: Notice that we are using the word “feeling.” This is because fear is an emotion, not your identity. You are not your emotions. You are a spirit.

#5 It only reflects the past, not the future
Fear is never about the right here and now.
It is about what might happen.
More importantly, it is the projection of the past into the future.
In other words, when you are in fear, you are not in the moment.
You conclude that what previously occurred to you will be repeated.
What’s holding you back is not only fear itself but the emotions attached to an event.
Back then, you felt like:
- You were overwhelmed in one way or another
- Things were happening too fast and too intensely
- It was all too much for your level of understanding at that time
Note: Fear, upon close inspection, contains other repressed emotions.
#6 Your fears aren’t as big as you think they are
Another thing you’ll notice when you look into your fear is that it’s often exaggerated.
You are magnifying the imagined situation by doing the following:
- Gathering and making up “evidence”
- Building up a terrifying worst-case scenario
- Getting rid of everything that doesn’t support it
You have this fearful assumption that lives privately only in your mind.
Let me enlighten you.
Realize that the past was a time with completely different variables.
Every moment is fresh.
It doesn’t have to repeat the past unless you make it so by your thoughts, words, actions, by what you put your attention to.
#7 You overcome it through action
Once you get to all these realizations, it’s time to do what you fear.
This will allow you to finally process the emotions you have been denying.
From that, you will gain new understanding and growth.
You’ll observe that:
- You are no longer projecting
- You are now able to stay in the present
Even if you are still feeling the fear, do it anyway.
This is the last step, and once you act you will see that it was lying to you all along.
Note: As with anything, it takes practice and you get better at this each time you practice it.
