Do you want to know three astonishing facts about the Self?
If so, my article will absolutely surprise you.
Read on if you want to figure out:
- Why we are all as one
- 3 surprising realities about the Self
- How your perspective limits your reality
In my post How To Finally Answer The Question: “Who Am I?” I’ve discussed many viewpoints, including how you and everything else is made up of water.
Let us see how else we can look at you.
More than just a “person”
You will see that the label “person” is only one of many ways to look at your being.
This is how you usually see yourself.
For this reason, you’re repetitively hypnotized into seeing you as that way solely.
Let us look at some more perspectives on your construction, keeping it as practical and scientific as possible.
3 Fascinating Truths About The Self
1. You are energy
Your body is made up of cells.
These cells are in turn made up of molecules, which are made up of atoms, which are in turn made up of sub-atomic particles such as electrons.
Everything is made up of ‘large groups’ of sub-atomic particles.
Everything else are ‘concentrations’ of energy whether it is:
- A tree
- A planet
- A vehicle
- Your body
All of them are large collections of pretty much the same types of sub-atomic particles.
The only difference is in the way these particles are grouped together into ever-larger building blocks.
A second look: The brick perspective
Here is another way to look at it.
Think of a brick.
A brick on its own is just a brick.
When you put together enough bricks in a certain way, you get a house.
Or a skyscraper.
Or a hut.
But they are all made of the same bricks.
In the universe, as we perceive it, the “brick” that everything is built of is the energy particle.
Now that you know you are energy, here are three things to keep in mind:
#1 You are not constrained by time and space
To speak correctly, a sub-atomic particle (an energy particle) is not really a particle in the way that a grain of sand is a particle.
While atomic and larger particles (such as people) are objects or things, subatomic particles are not objects as such.
They are ‘probabilities of existence’ and at the same time ‘multiple existences’.
They are also wave-like and particle-like at the same time.
They are everywhere and nowhere.
They are intelligent.
They are not constrained by space and time (yes, and by extension, you are not constrained by space and time except as you believe yourself to be).
What is your body made of?
Tissues and organs.
What are tissues and organs made of?
What are cells made of?
What are molecules made of?
What are atoms made of?
What are sub-atomic particles made of?
They are not made of energy; they are energy.
#2 You are energy within a sea of energy
You are one big ‘chunk’ of energy.
And so is everything else.
Your mind, your perception, puts together this energy into the physical shape you are used to seeing.
Different beings experience different worlds, within the same “space.”
You are a cluster of energy in a sea of energy.
#3 Your reality is only one perspective
In truth, there is no separation within the energy.
It is all One.
It is only your perception that gives the illusion of separation.
The idea of a beginning and an end of you is all perceptual.
Of course, if you have been looking at things from a human perspective all your life and have never looked at them from the perspective of any other being, physical or non-physical, large or small, you wouldn’t have a chance to recognize that you are experiencing a perception and not a Reality.
Your reality (perception) is valid, but it isn’t the Whole One Reality.
It is a reality within the Reality.
2. You are space
If grasping that you are energy has blown you away, here’s another truth bomb:
From an atomic point of view, you are 99% space.
The gaps between the atoms, electrons, neutrons, and so on that form your body are relatively bigger than the gap between the earth and the moon.
So there is another way to look at your body.
It is 99% space and 1% sub-atomic particles!
By space here we mean ‘no thing’ that science has been able to identify (and so they call it empty space, even though their calculations show them that there is some kind of anti-matter or dark-matter they can’t detect).
3. You are light
In the beginning, there was nothing.
Even nothing did not exist.
And then God said, let there be light.
Isn’t that how the Judaic story of creation goes?
It is not only the Judaic story that points this out; many other peoples and times have said the same.
First, let us get one thing out of the way.
The human definition of light.
Humans define light as the luminosity that they can see.
So, if the human eye can see, it is light, if it can’t see, it is not light.
A rather narrow definition that only covers energy with a wavelength between 350nm and 750nm, red to violet, a frequency only between 4 × 1014 vibrations per second and 7.5 × 1014 vibrations per second.
The only reason they settled on these limits is that that is what their eyes can see.
This is not the ants’, the bats’, the angels’ or the gods’ definition of light.
It is only human.
Another way to look at it: Light is energy.
The only difference between you and what you call a red light (or a blue light) is that you are vibrating at a different frequency and wavelength.
But you are both energy.
But you say, “light moves fast, at the speed of light.”
And who says you don’t?
It is all relative.
Relative Truths About Light
Movement and rest depend on your position relative to what you are looking at.
All energy moves at light speed and above.
The electron, the photon, the neutron… all the energy particles that make up the universe are in constant motion.
They flash in and out of existence at the speed of light and above (many times the speed of light).
You and the chair you are sitting on are made up of energy that is at great speed.
But you don’t feel it because relative to each other, you are at similar rates, frequencies and wavelengths (producing the perceptual experience of being solid and stationary).
The idea that a wall is solid (or the earth, for that matter), is all perceptual and the experience follows the belief.
It is all light.
And by light, we mean energy.
Just to give you an idea of relativity, you imagine yourself to be standing on a stationary planet, right?
Well, look at this.
Quoted from Microsoft Encarta Encyclopedia 2002:
“In common with the entire solar system, the Earth is moving through space at the rate of approximately 20.1 km/s or 72,360 km/h (approximately 12.5 mi/s or 45,000 mph) towards the constellation of Hercules.
“The Milky Way galaxy as a whole, however, is moving towards the constellation Leo at about 600 km/s (375 mi/s).
“The Earth and its satellite, the Moon, also move together in an elliptical orbit about the Sun.
“The eccentricity of the orbit is slight, so that the orbit is virtually circular.
“The approximate circumference of the Earth’s orbit is 938,900,000 km (583,400,000 mi), and the Earth travels along it at a velocity of about 106,000 km/h (66,000 mph).
“The Earth rotates on its axis once every 23 hr 56 min 4.1 sec.
“A point on the equator therefore rotates at a rate of a little more than 1,600 km/h (about 1,000 mph), and a point on the Earth at a latitude of 45° North, rotates at about 1,073 km/h (667 mph).”
Just to give you an idea of just how fast the above speeds are, consider that the speed of sound at sea level on earth is only 760 mph.
You are a part of the chain of light that forms the whole universe.
That is how useful and needed you really are!
A part of the Whole, without which there would be no Whole.
A child of the light.
Darkness is simply light that is yet to be known and experienced.
One continuous chain of light with seeming differences, apparent separations.
In this article, you’ve learned that you are actually energy, space, and light.
However, there are two questions that remain unanswered:
Where do you really begin?
Where do you really end?
